Clearwater were commissioned by St Johns College Cambridge to undertake the role of commissioning managers and the production of record drawings for the building services that form the refurbishment of ‘E’ Staircase. Also, as part of the services provided to the college, Clearwater carried out 3D scanning of the ‘E’ Staircase, Chapel and the Fellows Hall.
The commissioning management role Clearwater undertook included a weekly on site presence throughout the installation works to monitor the progress of work, the quality of the installation and areas of non-compliance with the client's brief. These inspections were reported back to the client via weekly written reports.
As the works commenced towards the final stage of the installation, the procedures and programme of works to undertake commissioning processed was implemented with the MEP contractor. Furthermore, as part the commissioning manager's role, we have acted as witness to the functionality of all MEP systems, validating that the outcomes match the requirements set out within the original design documentation.
On completion of the installation, a full set of 'as installed' record drawings were produced to wholly reflect the services installation. This process ensures that the client is furnished with an up to date set of documentation to aid the ongoing building maintenance.
A full 3D scan of ‘E’ Staircase, the Chapel and the Fellows Hall was carried out, the output of the scanning process produces a point cloud survey of both the exterior and interior of the buildings. From the point cloud survey the data is used to create 3D Revit model of building of all of its interior components, which is a precise reproduction of the scanned environment.
